Digital Scrapbooking

My word, am I ever behind on my posts. I have no good excuse but a 6 yr old and 22 month old. I am all over the place these days. I am reading my Bible and have stuck with it - feels good! I jumped from Acts to Revelation a few days back. There was a time when Revelation scared me but now I find it so glorious and hopeful. But I am trying to determine my next move. I realize that I am at my very best learning something new. I have to feel I am moving forward. I am thinking maybe I should learn digital scrapbooking. I would like to - but I don't even know where to begin! I have Photoshop. Now - kazzamm! - shouldn't that do it for me? {LOL} I struggle with the whole concept a bit because I love the tactile experience - but - I think it will be a nice compliment to my hands-on art, right? Anyway, I have completed a few projects in the last few days - a board book for both girls and shower invites for my sis. Will post something tomorrow.

Well, this didn't post so well but it was fun to do. About trying to catch creative freedom while juggling all the usual stuff, etc. Children screaming - got to run ;-)

21 day challenge update

I am completely overwhelmed by the 21 day challenge. I am paralyzed. Nothing seems worthy of showing anyone. I have already abandoned 2 of the 3 habits I was cultivating. (Perhaps 3 at a time was a bit much!) But my DH helped me find some perspective and narrow down exactly what I had hoped to get out of this: 1. I want to connect with other creative people. My friends are just not into art, despite all my subtle pushing and modeling ;-) and 2. I want to find a way to use my art to glorify God. The church is having a Spring Sale next week and I thought I would collage some Bible verses on canvas for the church to sell. So far all my attempts have been unworthy and I am so frustrated! So, I have decided that I will try and post on at least 2 blogs that I look at - I get so much inspiration from the other 21 dayers - and yet I lurk instead of letting them know. I will try to change that. Also, I will continue to brainstorm and research and ask others and try and learn how I can use art/scrapbooking to somehow serve God. So these are my new goals. I think I might be able to stick to these. BTW This is a scrapbook page from a book I did on my youngest daughter called "20 minutes with Taylor." We had a hard time conceiving her and she'll be 2 in June. Where did my baby go!?!

Tuesday {the challenge}

Okay, this is my first stab at Rhonna's challenge. It was fun but now I have to go clean up my kitchen because I got carried away with the splattering. The quote is: "Chaos often breeds life where order breeds habit." - Henry Adams. I like this quote because that is what I am looking for in developing good habits - a little order. A little order at the foundation of my life so that the creative part can be freed up.

Rhonna's {21} Day Challenge

Rhonna has begun round 3 of her 21 day challenge. The word this week is HABIT. What comes to mind first: 1. a nun, and 2. smoking. Since I am a Protestant and a nonsmoker, these associations don't do much for me. (LOL)
I am going to mull it over some more and try to come up with something.

Monday

This is a canvas collage I finished a few days ago using some photos I took of my daughters with a bird and nest (fake). The words say, "In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary." Not sure who the author is. There is also a short poem by William Blake about innocence.

This is a collage on canvas using a black and white photo of my youngest daughter, who calls herself "Baby Ta-Ta." The poem is from a collection I had copied down years ago. I have unfortunately misplaced the author. I am finishing a piece with my older daughter's photo tonight.
